DTronics introduces the DT-RDX, a hardware controller for the Yamaha Reface DX. This makes the multitude of parameters of FM synthesis tangible. With 41 controls and nine buttons you have access to all sound-relevant parameters of the Reface DX: Thanks to the INIT button you can start the new sound with the current settings on the controller and do this for one or more operators at the same time.
Surfing the menu of the Reface DX is finally a thing of the past with this controller. The operation of the many knobs is also a lot of fun.
The back side of the DT-RDX pleases the eye of the beholder with the discreetly illuminated manufacturer logo. The housing itself is made of metal and is of high quality. At the height of the keyboard to be docked, there are some recesses that retain all cable connections to the outside world despite the expander.
Dtronics brought their "A" game with the DT-RDX. With this Yamaha DX attachment your synth is brought to life. The four operator on/off - adjustment capabilities open up opportunities that were not easily available within the DX's touchpad controls. Once understanding all of the knobs/functions of the RDX the Yamaha is a whole new synth. I do wish the price was less then the synth itself although I also understand that Dtronics cannot mass produce to the level as Yamaha, therefore more overhead costs need to be absorbed somewhere.
