The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster MN 2-Color Sunburst offers the true vintage feeling at a surprisingly attractive price. As with the original 1950s prototypes, Squier uses a pine body, while the slim neck is made of maple. The slim "C" profile together with the 9.5" fretboard radius promises comfortable playing characteristics and problem-free bendings. On the guitar amp, three Fender Designed Single-Coil pickups with Alnico magnets provide the familiar versatile sound spectrum, with a bell-like response in almost all styles between blues, rock, pop and funk. Naturally, the Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster is equipped with the proven 6-Saddle Synchronized Tremolo for smooth pitch modulations.
Recieved this Classic Vibe, all the way from Germany, once opened it look nice, then i noticed that the g,b,e saddles were not straight, E,A,D, were straight, i could not get the treble strings straight, and sitting well, in the saddles, it was if these vintage squier saddles were the wrong ones for this bridge, i stripped them off, and put on a set from a older squier to rectify the problem with alignment. When i got the guitar, the intonation for all strings were well off, none of them were perfect. The neck was perfect, as i have a neck gauge to check the straightness of the guitar neck. Pickups are loud, and pretty good. Once the guitar was set up properly by myself. i noticed that the guitar fret wire was sprouting out of the neck, this needed to be filed down, as the frets were sharp, and digging in to my hand. So the neck frets were not flush, and ideal for playing. Now that everything has been addressed properly by myself, the guitar is great now. Plays like a new guitar should play. I am glad that i didnt have to return the guitar back to Germany from Scotland, to fix the fret wire sprout, the wrong saddles, and a poor setup. The thing i dont understand is that there is a check list from dv247 musicstore to say the instrument has been checked. I think stevie wonder checked this guitar, as there was too many things wrong, and it should have been rectified at their shop or another guitar sent out, that was correct. So between Fenders Indonesia manufacturer, probably cort guitars, and dv247.com not checking the product, as well, that is two quality control processes failed, and makes dv247.com looking bad for quality checks on the guitars that have been sent out, very disappointed in the way online shops act. Happy now with the guitar, but i shouldnt have been the one working on a brand new guitar, rectifying any problens with the manufacturing and setup phase of these guitars, i've heard good news about these models, and thought that this guitar would be made properly and with some good quality, and quality control, only to be disappointed with the end result from fender squier, and dv247.com as well for not catching these errors
Exceptionally nice neck to this guitar - looks good and is nice to play. Set up 'out of the box' was good. I needed to adjust the intonation on the low E and A strings. Had to wind the adjuster on the E as far back as it would go and still couldn't quite get it perfectly intonated. Not a problem no one will notice. All other strings perfect. Thick white scratch plate not that impressive but the controls are great and the sound is brilliant. I keep choosing to play it over my other guitars so that says something!
I created a self-build Fiesta Red Strat over 15 years ago based on an MIM body with a custom Fender neck and gold hardware. I built it with Hank Marvin Kinman pickups and wiring, and it has served me well in my Hank Tribute performances. Unfortunately, the body recently developed a serious crack at the neck joint which made it unplayable.
I needed a replacement but did not want to pay many hundreds of £s, when I heard of the Squier 50s Classic Vibe. Much investigation and review fishing tempted me to purchase one from dv247.
When it arrived I was very impressed with the finish and quality. The only changes I made involved changing the pickups and wiring to my Kinman set, and a good setup to my requirements, including bending the trem arm more and swapping the springs for a fully floating bridge. I put a set of 10-52 gauge strings on it at it sounded perfect. The stock pickups were great, but I needed the familiar sound I was used to.
I gigged it three days later, and received many compliments with the look and sound. I normally swap to my other guitar on stage when finishing playing my Shadows instrumentals, but ended up playing this Squier most of the night. Perfection.
Many thanks to Squier and dv247.
This is my upgrade from a Strat Affinity and I am super happy with it. Plays beautifully and looks just as good. This is as close to Fender Professional experience as one can get and for a very reasonable price. The only drawback is the string quality and the string buzzing, which of course can be adjusted with the keys to change the bridge height for individual strings. Great purchase!
