The combination of African Khaya and Sapelli mahogany provides an appealing resonance with a unique character.
Powerful Khaya Mahogany Body
The Full Thickness Double Cut Bodymade of African Khaya Mahogany provides the right resonance, which gives the basic sound of the Fame Forum IV Classic P90 its unmistakable character. In addition, a two-piece top made of precious curly maple with ergonomic carvings is used to evoke the vibration characteristics of the proven mahogany/maple combination and to provide an incomparably comfortable playing feel. The two wide cuts ensure easy access to the highest fingerboard positions.
The ebony fingerboard offers the range of two full octaves thanks to 24 frets in medium jumbo format
Ebony fingerboard with 24-fret medium jumbo fretting.
To provide guitarists of all stripes with the most comfortable playing experience possible, the Fame Forum IV Classic P90 relies on a medium-jumbo fretboard. The ebony fretboard has 24 frets, which provide the full range of two whole octaves for each string and give lead guitarists additional playing possibilities in the higher registers. On the other hand, the balanced D-profile of the sapele mahogany neck provides the appropriate thumb rest for cleanly picked Chords and precise layer play.
The combination of Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB Humbucker and Seymour Duncan Vintage P90 Soapbar elicits a wide tonal palette from the Fame Forum IV Classic P90.
Seymour Duncan USA pickup with coil split option.
The Fame Forum IV Classic P90 combines classic humbucker sounds for steamy riffs of the Blues to hard rock in bridge position and vocal, expressive neck sounds of the single coil in P90 format. The Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB humbucker, which has been tried and tested for 40 years now, operates in the classic Hot-Rod manner with increased Output and a well-resolved frequency spectrum, while the Seymour Duncan Vintage P90 Sopabar aptly complements the distinctive sound of the neck position with its pronounced high mids. The additional Mini Switch also provides a coil split option for the bridge humbucker, which can also elicit softer sounds with attack-rich response from the Fame Forum IV Classic P90 if required.
High quality Gotoh tuning machines provide absolute tuning stability and the classic headstock silhouette of the Fame Forum IV Classic.
Solid hardware equipment
A classic Tune-o-Matic bridge with matching stopbar, which has been tried and tested for decades, is used for the appropriate resonance transmission into the body. The basic design enjoys great popularity among guitarists as well as guitar techs due to the comfortable hand rest and precise adjustment possibilities for string action and intonation. At the headstock, high-quality tuning machines from the Japanese manufacturer Gotoh ensure stable tuning in the rehearsal room, in the studio and on stage.
In addition, every Fame Forum IV comes with a free Fame gig bag for safe and stylish transport to the respective place of use, which provides soft padded protection for the instrument, comfortable backpack straps and a large accessory compartment with sufficient storage space for all kinds of accessories for everyday guitarist needs.
Just to caveat, I have a lot of guitars now, and have had even more over the years - in the collection at the moment is a PRS Custom 22 10 Top, 81 Strat, Gibson Les Paul etc - so my views aren't just because I own the Fame and cannot afford something else.
This guitar is on par with the PRS Custom - the fit and finish is fantastic, the top isn't as good but my PRS is a 10 top, with the SD pickups (my PRS actually have SD P90s) it sounds great. I am not sure how they are making this for the price of a Mexican Fender (although the high end ones of those are great now too). I had been eyeing them for ages, but seeing the new model with the P90 in the neck pushed me over the edge.
I have another Fame Forum on order now too (don't tell my wife)! Let's hope that one is just as good.
