The MAJID DRUMS Hamgam Ritual Percussions is a revolutionary piece of percussion. Handmade from plywood, the Hamgam is shaped so that it can sit comfortably on the player’s lap and is easily transported. Unlike any other wooden drum, its complex shape and selection of tuneable drum pads contribute to its amazingly warm sound.
The Hamgam features 7 playing areas each with an individual drum pad and includes 1 bass pad and 1 adjustable snare pad. Each of the 7 pads are tuneable via a magnet and the player can experiment with endless sound variations. The Hamgam also comes with 2 Kaskaritas for an even further unique sound.

What a unique, versatile, and lovely sounding instrument. Majid Drums made a real winner with the hamgam, it's a sheer joy to play and can quickly and easily be made to fit any key. Lots of different tonal options with the snares and castanets, and it all fits in a backpack! This is the busker or recording artist's best friend!
The Majid Drums Ham Gam is a very unique and versatile new hand drum instrument, that would fit well into a number of musical genres and styles. It's multiple playing surfaces have a lot of versatility, that present a range of new and interesting creative possibilities for rhythmic textures and tones.
I was very pleased with the build quality of this instrument. The finish and quality of this drum is exceptional, with a very high attention to detail in the manufacturing process. It is obvious that Majid takes pride in the quality of his work.
Each drum head makes clever use of two strong but small and unobtrusive magnets, located on the exterior and interior of the drumhead. They make magnetic contact with each other through the drumhead. Sliding the magnets to different positions on the head allows for a number of independent tuning possibilities.
The drum heads are made of a thin wood material (cajon style, I believe). The additional castanet devices add to the tonal range of the instrument. One of the heads has adjustable snare wires (mounted on the inside surface of the head), that also add to the tonal range.
The drum came with a nice quality nylon case, with the Majid Drums logo.
The retailer made an error and didn't include the drum head tuning magnets, but I contacted Majid (business card included with the drum), and they were mailed to me.
Majid has created a unique new percussion instrument. I'm excited to explore all of it's sonic potential.
