The Mapex Armory Shell Set AR504S comes in a shiny ultramarine finish with chrome hardware and has an extremely noble exterior. The hybrid boilers made of birch and maple impress with warm projection and defined attack as well as sensitive dynamics. Other professional features of the Mapex Armory Shell Set AR504S are SONIClear boiler burr and suspension system. The name Armory for the drum Mapex series does not come by chance, because the Armory drum sets are indeed "armed" with professional features that make these sets faithful companions for studio and stage. And the Armory series proves Mapex time and again that good quality doesn't have to be expensive.
The basis of the Armory series are the hybrid boilers made of birch and maple. The arrangement of the woods (outer and inner birch layers, between them maple) gives the Armory Drums an extraordinary resonance and a strong punch. The bowls respond very quickly and sensitively and allow a very dynamic way of playing.
With the "SONIClear" boiler burr, Armory Drums is another innovation. The strongly rounded burr provides for an increased fur-to-boiler contact, which takes the boiler tonal into stronger responsibility and emphasizes the natural sound of boiler and wood. In addition the tuning of the Armory cauldrons is considerably facilitated by the burr.
The tom suspension of the Armory Drums was borrowed from the much more expensive Saturn IV series and provides an unrestricted resonance development of the boiler. In addition, the force generated when hitting the skin is kept in the kettle and not dissipated by the hardware. The spring-loaded Floor Tom legs of the Armory Drums have the same task.
