PRS John Mayer Signature electric guitar, including gigbag
After many years of collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and seven-time Grammy Award winner John Mayer, the traditional company from Maryland presents the PRS John Mayer Silver Sky MN Moc Sand. The electric guitar, based on characteristic features of early instruments of the sixties, presents itself as a successful homage to the irrepressible Vintage-Sound of the mid-sixties and combines the classic specifications of the era with Paul's future-oriented guitar design.
Traditional Vintage Double Cut construction meets modern PRS design: The Paul Reed Smith John Mayer Silver Sky MN in Moc Sand finish.
Classic Double Cut Design
John Mayer's Silver Sky embodies the ergonomic feel of traditional double cutaway guitars and elevates the timeless design to today's stages. In addition to classic features such as the top-load constructionand contours for arm and chest, Paul Reed Smith gave the lower Cutaway the typical 'scoop', which benefits especially the play in the highest positions of the fingerboard noticeably.
Bolt-On Maple Neck
The construction of the PRS Silver Sky follows the classic bolt-on design. The four-piece maple neck is bolted together with a specially designed Silver Sky neckplate and features a maple fingerboard with classic small-bird inlays for fret marking. After the first fingerings, a characteristic vintage feeling spontaneously sets in, not least thanks to John's painstakingly recreated neck profile of classic 63/64 instruments and an extremely low fingerboard radius of 7.25".
635JM Single Coils
Powerful, yet full of character and not too harsh, the single co ils designed especially for John's Silver Sky get to work. Full, round and warm sounds are the métier of the PRS 635JM single coils, without denying the characteristic sound of the single coils. The pickup circuits, selectable via the 5-way blade switch, awaken the full range of the set, with especially the intermediate positions 2 and 4 testifying to the good balance between the pickups.
PRS Custom Hardware
The hardware of the PRS Silver Sky MN Moc Sand also remains basically classic, but not entirely without a makeover. First of all, Paul Reed Smith's jack-plate design has been adapted and rounded for easy plugging and unplugging of instrument cables. The vintage tremolo, held in place by six screws resting on knife-edges, has four steel springs from the factory, allowing the baseplate to rest on the body. This not only provides more reliable tunings and double stops, but also a more powerful signal and improved sustain.

I've always been a fan of PRS gear and owned a number of SEs and and S2, but this just takes it to another level. I get that other reviewers have had issues with the tuning pegs/control knobs, etc, but the quality isn't that bad. I wasn't sure I was going to get on with the neck radius, but it's extremely comfortable and doesn't take too long to get used to.

Volume/ knobs and pickup-switch feels cheap. Finish on the neck is pretty sticky but not too much but the neck profile is unbelievable good! It keeps tune well, great sustain and the tone is something else.
