The SPL P8 is a high-quality microphone preamp with eight identically constructed microphone preamps. All eight preamps have a discrete design - without ICs, using individual transistors. This is an effort that is only made in absolute high-end preamps and is largely responsible for an outstanding sound. The sophisticated circuit design is specially conceived for professional multi-channel recording sessions and offers up to 62 dB of clean gain per channel. The analog gain controls on each channel allow precise control over the preamplification, while the individually switchable 48 V phantom power provides the necessary flexibility for the use of different microphones.

What functions do the P8 preamps offer?
Each of the eight preamps is equipped with a range of practical functions that ensure comprehensive control over the input signal. These include a PAD switch, which attenuates the input signal by 20 dB if required, and a phase inversion function. In addition, each channel has a switchable analog high-pass filter that starts at 80 Hz and operates with a slope of 6 dB per octave. These features ensure optimum adjustment of the signal, whether in studio recording or in live environments. Thanks to the dual DB25 output, the use of external signal splitters is no longer necessary, which considerably simplifies the setup for backup or emergency systems.
How is the SPL P8 processed?
The P8 not only impresses technically, but also with its first-class workmanship. The housing is made of robust steel, which is powder-coated in an elegant black. The 4 mm thick front panel is made of black anodized aluminium and the gain controls consist of solid aluminium knobs that are milled from the solid. Made in Germany, the P8 stands for quality and durability. The device is also available with an optional8-channel ADAT converter, which enables seamless connection to digital audio interfaces.
