The WA76 may not be the first UREI 1176 FET Compressor clone, but it is likely the least expensive.
The WA76 Limiting Amplifier is a modern copy of the Classic 1176 Revision D. The Reichenbach Engineering’s (now CineMag) transformer design of the original where also used. The classic 1176 set new benchmarks in limiter technology – the first true peak limiter with purely transistor technology offers superior performance with a signature sound. Tor nearly 50 years, the ultra-fast attack and the trademark sound have attracted legendary artists and studio legends such as Peter Frampton, Joe Satriani, Joe Chiccarelli, Vance Powell, and Mike Elizondo just to name a few.
