This is a problem that every classical guitarist and fingerpicker faces sooner or later. And many improvised solutions have been found in this field: artificial fingernails, parts of ping-pong balls fixed with super glue...
But no matter what the solution looked like, the guitarist was never fully satisfied. aLaska Piks plastic picks offer a real alternative for the first time.
Slid over the finger and under the nail, aLaska Pik replaces the fingernail in an amazingly simple way. Only a minimum of own nail is necessary to ensure the seating strength. Before the first use, the pick has to be adjusted to the player's finger. After this procedure, the pick sits so securely on the finger that it can not only be plucked but also strummed. Even flamenco guitarists get their money's worth.
The first step is to optimise the firmness of the pick. This is achieved by filing the inside of the plucking surface of the pick to exactly fit the shape of the user's fingers.
Guide the file to keep the foreign body feeling under the nail as low as possible.
Now place the pick firmly over the finger and under the nail for manicuring. For this purpose, the edges of the fingernails, especially the outer corners, should also be filed round. Thus prepared, the pick can then be shortened to the desired length with nail clippers and a file. To make the pick more flexible, you can remove all or part of the pressure band.
If the pick slips out from under the nail when the finger is bent, bevel it generously on the underside. File all sharp edges round. aLaska Piks can also be used for lateral picking with the thumb.
