About TAMA Drums & TAMA Hardware

As early as 1965, the Japanese company Hoshino marketed the first Tama drums, but at that time still under the name STAR. It was not until 1974 that the STAR brand was renamed TAMA. Since then, TAMA has brought many innovations in the field of drums and drum hardware onto the market. The name STAR has never completely disappeared and can still be found in almost all of TAMA's series names, such as the drum series Starclassic, Superstar or Imperialstar. The German headquarters of TAMA is the company Meinl Musikinstrumente GmbH & Co.KG in Gutenstetten.

TAMA – Cutting-edge drum construction

Today, TAMA is one of the absolute world leaders in drum manufacturing, which is not least due to the high-quality construction and the perfect drum sound in every price range. With the TAMA Superstar series, TAMA created a professional drum set in 1977, which is still one of the best-selling drum sets today, delivering crystal-clear sound and reliable stability at a fair price. The TAMA Starclassic series, which is available in Birch/Bubinga, Maple and Bubinga, is the epitome of professionalism, powerful sound and robust drum shell hardware for countless drummers. The entry-level class goes by the name of TAMA Imperialstar: robust complete drum sets at a low price.

Professional drum hardware

TAMA also regularly makes a name for itself in the field of drum hardware and accessories. In the mid-70s, TAMA developed extremely stable drum hardware that withstood everyday touring with ease. Advanced memory clamps, cymbal stands, bass drum pedals and multi clamps from TAMA are still among the most professional accessories for drummers and percussion players today. Especially the legendary TAMA Iron Cobra and Speed Cobra hardware is the classic par excellence when it comes to smooth-running and stable bass drum pedals and hi-hat stands.

TAMA - Innovator in drum construction

Thanks to the consistently high quality, the good price/performance ratio and the stable drum hardware, TAMA products have been among the absolute top sellers in MUSIC STORE professional for years. Famous drummers who play TAMA drums include Lars Ulrich, Simon Philips, Stewart Copeland, Kenny Aronoff, Mike Portnoy and John Dolmayan, to name a few.
