Absolutely love the sound for practice... Bright highs and pretty full, round lows for it's size. Only when playing my Jazz Bass with flatwounds did the sound get a bit muddy when the volume was turned above 5 (but 4 is pleeeenty loud enough for practice), but that is to be expected with this size speaker... All in all a beautiful product for this budget
I have rediscovered the Bass after a 15 year hiatus and wanted a little practice amp that will 1. not break the bank in case my rediscovered inspiration does not last 2. Sounds great 3. goes well with my 78 Stingray
I used to play through an Ampeg SVT and 8x10 cab and loved the sound so when I saw that Ampeg claimed similar tones from this baby combo for less than a hundred quid, I thought I'll have it.
I am delighted with my purchase, my old Stingray sounds wicked through this and at 20 watts, it is plenty loud enough for at home. I wouldn't get this if you want to play out with it, maybe one of the bigger ones would suit that. You can plug headphones in for silent practice as well which is very handy, also there's an aux in so you can play along with tunes on your phone or whatever.
It sounds very close to my memory of old big beast Ampeg and for the money, that's great.
The Amp came to the UK from Germany very quickly and I can't fault the service I have received.
What a great sounding bass amp! It's much better than the cheap PA speakers I've been using up until now - so much so that I play my keyboard through it too. I like the wedge shape so it can point upwards and the aux in is a useful feature.
