The Antares Throat Evo (Licence) is a Voice Modulation Plug-In for distortion, shaping and improvement of personal voice characteristics. Although it was developed as a tool for subtle improvement of voice quality, the high range of adjustment parameters also allows changes to the singer's voice that are anatomically impossible. The innovative graphic Throat Shaping surface allows a change of the human sound characteristics on the basis of the anatomical structure of the human vocal apparatus. This is supplemented by additional sound features such as Breathiness and Pitch modulation. This range of settings results in a powerful but relatively easy to understand sound modulation tool for sound engineers and home studio beginners at medium production levels.
Tool & Effect Possibilities
In the interface of the Throat Evo, a graphical representation of the sound curve called Throat Shaping can be used to change the position of 5x measuring points representing the human vocal tract. These measuring points on the sound curve correspond to the places where the corresponding sound spectra are produced in the human vocal apparatus. Thus it is relatively easy even for beginners to understand which factor has to be changed in order to make a sound "throatier", “scratchier” or fuller. With Breathiness, you can also add variable additional frequencies, resulting in effects ranging from light breathing to whispering to scratching, if these additional sound spectra are desired. With the Pitch Shift the voice can be modulated up or down by an octave. Some pre-sets of certain vocal characteristics such as pitch (e.g. soprano) or throat type (e.g. medium) can be quickly selected as the starting point. With this tool you will achieve an extraordinary sounding result or a subtle improvement of the voice characteristics.
