DPA 4466 CORE Omni Headset Mic Black, MicroDot

DPA expands its high-performance portfolio with the new 4466 CORE, an omnidirectional headset microphone. The model combines the renowned 5mm capsules with CORE by DPA technology with the Red Dot award-winning Refine neckband. The advanced headset is safe, durable and flexible, making it ideal for theatre, broadcast, church or conference applications.

This omnidirectional microphone provides clean and transparent sound quality with plenty of headroom. The sensitivity of the microphone is 6 mV/Pa. This is equivalent to the level of the human voice and the general input sensitivity of most wireless transmitters. When properly powered, the microphone is capable of handling very high sound pressure levels up to 134 dB SPL, allowing users to both speak and sing into the microphone without a hint of distortion. The maximum SPL handling is an impressive 144 dB.

Technically advanced mechanical headset mount design

DPA's new headset microphone is the most advanced design on the market. It provides comfort, even during extended wear, but without sacrificing safety. Its shape hugs the head gently and snugly and is easily adjustable. The spring mechanisms that grip around the ears are gentle, yet firm enough to keep you feeling secure during your performance. The headset can also be custom fitted on site to ensure a perfect fit for each performer. These features are also why it won the prestigious Red Dot Award in 2019.

One size fits all, adjustable frame

The headset's frame is made of stainless steel and treated with a PVD coating that makes it extremely durable. It can withstand high temperatures and is impervious to shock and abrasion. The frame is one size fits all with a simple adjustment mechanism for quick and easy sizing. Anatomically correct, it fits snugly and comfortably to the head thanks to its unique shape. The entire microphone has a pleasant matte look thanks to the coating, which makes the entire headset look small and less obtrusive than other headset solutions. furthermore, the size of the microphone is not compromised as the PVD coating is extremely durable and extremely thin at the same time.

2-way adjustable headband

The boom can be easily adjusted to sit perfectly at the angle of the speaker's smile (the optimal position of a head-worn microphone). Not only can the boom be lengthened/shortened, but it can also be pivoted up and down at a fixed point below the ear (no more bending the boom). An anti-rotation mechanism built into the boom shape prevents the boom from twisting. A sliding locking system ensures that the boom is locked in the desired position. The entire boom can be removed at a point below the ear and moved from the right to the left side of the frame.

In addition, a service connector has been added to the end of the boom so that the boom and cable can be replaced independently if necessary. The service connector is well protected by a plastic cover that slides over the gold-plated connectors.

PVD-treated microphone

The beige and brown versions of this microphone are treated with a finish that mimics the color of the boom, giving the entire headset a very unique look.

3-point earhook

The earhooks on the headset are made up of some amazing technology. Most headsets have either a 1 or 2 point grip system - resting on the ear or (sometimes) gripping under the ear. This headset relies on a 3-point grip system - it adds a support area behind the ear that pushes slightly inward.

This not only allows the headset to fit more securely around the head, even during shocks, but also makes it extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Plus, the advanced ergonomic shape of these earpieces conforms to the shape of your head.

90° cable routing system

The headset has its cable routing directly on the back of the headset frame, so you can easily organize the cables to run unobtrusively down the back of the performer. The cable guide can be moved from side to side so that it can be pulled out of view of the camera, for example. The special design also separates the cables from the movement of the boom, ensuring that the cables are not pulled when the boom is moved. This helps to ensure that the microphone cables have a long life.

The cable is often the weak point of this type of microphone, but we have chosen to use cables of the same size (Ø 1.6 mm) as usual. They are extremely robust, do not tangle and are equipped with an inner core made of Kevlar, which can withstand rough pulls and is the highest standard on the market.

The construction of the cable, the capsule and the headband ensure insensitivity to noisy wireless devices. Headsets typically connect to a wireless belt pack, and we offer an extensive selection of adapters for the many wireless transmitters available. When using an adapter, the connector is our MicroDot, but we also offer hardwired connectors for the most popular systems from manufacturers such as Shure and Sennheiser. All of our connectors are equipped with a robust strain relief.
