With the limited Gibson Les Paul Standard 7 string, Gibson USA presents the immortal Singlecut classic with the extended range of the seventh string. The classic construction of the Gibson Les Paul Standard has been specially adapted to the sevenfold stringing in terms of both construction and hardware to present the full range without sacrificing the proven Paula feeling. Two Seymour Duncan 7-string humbuckers wound in the USA are used to create a balanced sound from the low B to the high register of the fingerboard.
With the Les Paul Standard 7-String Gibson sends a seven string Les Paul with Seymour Duncan USA Humbuckern into the race.
7-String Asymmetrical Taper Neck
Especially for the Les Paul Standard 7 string Gibson adopted the popular Asymmetrical Slim Taper profile of the US lineup and adapted it to the wider fingerboard of the seven-string. Accordingly, the ingenious 7-String Asymmetrical Slim Taper Profile offers an ergonomic support for hand and thumb both for classic playing in the high registers and in the bass register. In contrast to the model from headstock to neckfoot, the profile remains extremely slim in order not to hinder play on the deep H-string in particular.
Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 & SH-4 JB
To transform the enormous tonal range of the Gibson Les Paul Standard 7 String, Gibson relies on two well-known pickup classics from the US market leader. In neck position Gibson gives the 7-string Paula a Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 for distinctive neck sounds with dynamic depth and balanced sound. The Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB, on the other hand, starts at the bridge and offers a good portion of steam for rock and metal with balanced string separation.
Custom Tune-o-Matic & Stopbar
The hardware of the Gibson Les Paul Standard 7 string has also been adapted to the extended ambitus of the instrument. Accordingly, the proven combination of Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar features an additional rider and a further string hole for the low B string, while the headstock features a 7th Grover action in 3+4 arrangement.
