Griffin's Claws from Shakmat Modular is a performance-oriented 4-channel attenuator with recording function. You need one or more attenuators in almost every patch. Many modern modules offer a number of voltage controllable parameters, but do not have built-in attenuators. This is where Griffin's Claws comes into play. With no less than four attenuators, which can be adjusted with handy sliders, four signals can be precisely leveled. The highlight of this module is the recording function, which offers a recording time of up to 81 seconds per channel. This means that controller movements can be recorded individually for each channel over a number of bars, which can then be smoothly re-inserted cyclically. There are three modes for this: free, clocked or quantized (with automatic clock length detection). To perform with Griffin's Claws in clocked or quantized mode, connect the clock and reset inputs to a sequencer or MIDI to CV/Gate interface. The four outputs are cascaded, so you can output the same signal to four outputs with different intensities with just one input signal at Input 1. Instead of moving the fader of a channel yourself, you can use the clocked sample & hold function, which generates a different value between 0 and 100% with each clock tick. The four inputs are equipped with an adjustable offset, allowing the signal to be shifted around the zero point. The two gate outputs generate a gate when the faders of channels 1 and 4 are moved. This can be used to start envelopes or switch through functions. Thanks to the 16 memory locations, you always have the most important configurations and settings quickly to hand.
