Once again, the cooperation between sE Electronics and Ruper Neve Designs is bearing fruit, with the RNT Premium tube microphone that is second to none. The RNT combines a high-voltage tube circuit in the microphone with two custom transformers from Rupert Neve, a discrete Class A amplifier using the same operational amplifiers used in the 5088 console and a specially shielded, hand-made microphone capsule from sE. Combined, the components provide an extremely high headroom of 151 dB and a very wide frequency response of up to 100 kHz. Despite the enormous headroom that eliminates the need for pad switches, the amplifier module has been equipped with three gain settings (-12dB, 0dB flat and +12 dB). The extremely linear frequency response, which ensures lifelike recordings, as well as the +/-36VDC technology, which produces no clipping even at maximum power supply of the capsule, are also special features. Practically, the amplifier unit also features a LoCut filter that can be activated at 40Hz or 80Hz, as well as a nine-position switch that can switch a total of 9 polar patterns from omnidirectional to cardioid with a few intermediate steps. Last but not least, the lavish scope of delivery - in addition to the microphone itself, a custom spider, an RNT floor box (power supply), an 8-pin cable, a sE logo sticker, an IEC power cable, a wooden microphone box and an aluminium flight case are also supplied.
