Fuse from After Later Audio is a reissue of the popular Warps meta-modulator from Mutable Instruments. The module offers the nine algorithms crossfader, cross wavefolder, diode ring modulator, multiplier, XOR modulation, waveform Comparator and a 20-band Vocoder with 3 modes. Thus the module covers a number of classic modulation featuresthat are suitable for audio signals as well as control voltages. In general, Fuse masters an enormous bandwidth that includes various modulation forms from volume, waveshaping, cross modulation and ring modulation. Most results sound cleaner when low overtone waveforms like sine or triangle are fed. The primary thing to do here is to try everything! Modulating two oscillators with square waveforms in XOR mode quickly leads to harsh Atari sounds. Ever ringmodulated an ADSR with a sine LFO? The absolute highlight of Fuse might be the 20-band vocoder, which claims three of the nine algorithms for itself. The bands of the vocoder work with 48dB filters and are animated by envelope trackers. Those who love power plant-like robot sounds might find what they are looking for here. Fuse still has one ace up its sleeve: Input 1 can be replaced by the internal modulation oscillator. This can be modulated by any control voltage and is just handy if you actually need the second or third oscillator for other tasks; the modulation oscillator of course also interacts with the vocoder algorithms.
