Dimarzio DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary Bridge Electric Guitar Humbucker Pickup, Neck Position with Alnico 5 Magnet and 4 Conductor Wiring, in Black.
The Dimarzio DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary (Bridge) has all the characteristics that make a great vintage humbucker: a soft magnetic field, sweet tone, perfect balance between warmth and clarity, the ability to go from clean to distorted by pick attack alone.
Although the DP103 PAF 36th has a weak magnetic field, the sound is well defined - almost like a single-coil. The weaker magnetic field allows the strings to vibrate longer, as well as focus and articulate the attack and output. Dimarzio uses computer-controlled winders to consistently layer the 42-gauge custom-coated wire, achieving the exact frequency responset. Then it’s dipped in a custom formula to eliminate squeal and microphonics.
The cover is made from nickel-silver and the plating makes it more magnetically transparent than the originals. The PAF 36th Anniversary is smooth but not muddy. It allows the bass strings in the neck position to avoid muddiness, and the treble strings in the bridge position to be warm and not brittle.
Dimarzio DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary Bridge Humbucker features:
I matched this with the 36th anni neck, and they sound great. Vintage voice, but with a nice voice of their own, pushing the miss. I got this for one of the new Epiphone Les Paul Standards, the 59, and it's a wonderful upgrade. Lots of headroom to go from clean to full overdrive, a fully versatile unit. Height is key, as the bridge sounded weak and thin till I adjusted it higher, now it sounds amazing.
