While the linden body fits perfectly to the body thanks to the generous contours at the front and back, the flowing "All Access Neck Joint" and wide Cutaways allow unhindered access to the high registers of the bolt-on neck. The neck is made of five-piece maple and wenge, and the extremely flat "Super Wizard HP" profile and the stainless steel fretboard in jumbo format create agile playing characteristics for tight riffing and virtuoso solos. In addition to beautiful Offset dots, fluorescent Luminlay side dots mark the layers of the Macassar ebony fingerboard.

In order to be able to call up a particularly broad sound spectrum between glassy cleans and brute Distortion at the guitar amplifier, Ibanez equips the Prestige RG5170 with Fishman Fluence pickups in the HSH setup. On the neck and bridge, Fishman Fluence Modern pickups with Alnico and ceramic magnets, respectively, deliver contemporary active humbucker sounds that present every note with sharply defined contours and crisp Attack even at drop tunings and maximum gain. The mini-switch invokes a second humbucker voicing on demand, with the organic, warm tonal character of traditional hot-rodded pickups. The Fishman Fluence single-width pickup in middle position, on the other hand, promises a clear and present single-coil tone without unwanted ambient noise. A classic 5-way circuit with general volume and tone controls also grants full control over the pickups.
