Korg Volca Bass is an analog bass machine with three oscillators and one VCF, VCA, LFO and EG each. It can be used to create powerful bass sounds that can be composed into fat basslines with a loop sequencer based on the Electribe series. Self-tuning function, SYNC IN and MIDI IN allow synchronization of multiple devices including DAW. Compact design, battery operation and integrated speakers provide additional mobility!

Introducing KORG volca bass
Analog bass sounds with Korg's Volca Bass
The Korg Volca Bass is equipped with three oscillators that produce the modulated sound of classic analog synths. Flexible shaping options are available from single-voice unison to three-voice chords: Each oscillator can play a separate sequence and these individual phrases can be interwoven. Basslines and melodies can thus be played simultaneously. Another possibility is to detune the three oscillators against each other in unison mode to get a denser sound or whole chords.
Analog filter, VCA, LFO and Envelope Generator
Besides the oscillators, the Korg Volca Bass consists of a VCF, VCA and EG each. The Cutoff control makes the sound brighter and wider when the filter is opened, while it becomes rounder and fatter when it is closed. The Peak parameter boosts the resonance to distortion, which is essential for acid music lovers. VCA, LFO and EG complete the synthesizer setup and make Volca Bass the ideal instrument of synthetic sound generation.

Volca Bass - practical and comfortable
Analog synthesizers exhibit unstable pitch when exposed to temperature changes and other influences. Thanks to a self-tuning function, these problems have been solved in Volca Bass. This makes sense, because battery operation and integrated speakers make Volca Bass usable at any time. The SYNC jack also synchronizes the playback of multiple Volcas and monotribes. Using the appropriate app for the iPhone, even Tap Temp and Swing functions and sync playback from iOS music apps can be controlled wirelessly via WIST. The MIDI IN jack allows external control of Volca Bass via a MIDI keyboard. A DAW can also send signals and use Volca Bass as an analog sound module.

It sounds OK but do not get it if you are after a TB-303 sound. It does not sound like a real TB-303. You might be better off getting a cheap clone or using a controller with a VST.
Nevertheless the Volca Bass sounds good for the money and can produce some good squelching sounds.
I really enjoyed this synth, my only complaint is that the sequencer is a bit short...
Its not noisy, the knobs are way better than the Volca Keys. It would be nice if the keyboard was longer but with the quantity of parameters available in such a little space it is understandable.
This volca has an LCD indicator with the tempo (the Keys does not have one) so you can control the VOlca Keys tempo with a Volca Bass.
