The PRS SE
I was a bit astonished from another very negative feedback on this very model, because...my Custom 24 is simply great!
I have had some Epiphones, Ibanez and Fender US, and I must admit that the quality of the neck is comparable to my two US Fenders (Am Pro ii and Ultra): feel, fretboard finish from the 1st to the 24th fret (I have noticed Epiphone does not finish frets beyond the neck cut, wheras PRS obviously did the full job).
This is also the first time out of the 12 guitars I have bought that I don't have to adjust anything from factory settings- I like rather low action and this was really perfect..
The only flaws I noticed (if really picky);
- the input jack was a bit loose and had to get half-turn of screw (like most epiphones btw)
- the tremolo is a bit too 'easy' - prefer the Fender feel. If you giggle the bar like crazy, it will go out of tune but 1/ that's not what a vintage tremolo is supposed to do, 2/ it is the same story on Fender strats as well. Simply be aware that it is not meant for dive bombs ;-)
I may change the pickups one day, they are a bit too hot for my taste but they are doing their job - I had to change the cab sim on my Helix, but the result is nice: powerful bass for leads and all in all very versatile, quite warm.
The coil split is something I won't use too much, as it does not feel so 'full' and twangy as on a real Strat or Tele, but for a gig it is useful.
Given the surprisingly overall good quality for this price, I think my next guitar in that price range will probably be a PRS SE one. Can only recommend!
The PRS SE range has to be some of the best value for money, out there. At this price point, definitely punching with the Fender player series. Craftsmanship is spot on and the guitar was setup out of the box. Size wise it sits in the middle between a strat and a Les Paul, which is perfect for me.
Came perfectly set up, sounds (and looks!) beautiful. Service from MusicStore was great. Delivery service from DHL was abysmal. It took 3 weeks to deliver to IE from DE.
