Analog Circuitry with Asymmetrical Clipping
The analog circuitry of the 40th Anniversary SD-1 Super Overdrive produces distortion through asymmetrical clipping, whose harmonic overtones are clearly reminiscent of an overdriven tube amp. Located in the medium gain range, the Boss Super Drive feels most at home in front of a clean or crunching amp, where it delivers creamy blues and rock tones.
