The Virt Iter Legio from Noise Engineering is a digital stereo oscillator with three different synthesis modes. At the core of the module are three boosted tone generation algorithms created by Noise Engineering in collaboration with Arturia for the Microfreak synthesizer.
BASS is a special algorithm that ultimately combines sine waveforms, ring modulation and a Wavefolder convincingly.
SawX is a simplified variation of the Manis Iteritas oscillator and produces Super Saws that are perfect for trance and rave sounds.
HARM makes use of additive synthesis and adds noisy elements as well as some distortion.
Soundwise Virt Iter Legio is a typical Noise Engineering original, which uses here and there already existing NE modules, but does not replace them at all! Another highlight of this oscillator is the stereo signal path, and to be able to do more with it the pulse width for the left and the right sidecan be modulated separately. Practically, the PWM inputs are normalized, so that even one control voltage for both is sufficient.
