I bought the Yamaha PSR-S670 after reading all the positive reviews and watching all the You Tube demos. I have used the excellent Yamaha PSR-S550 for many years and it still forms part of my set-up. The S670 should be considered the great grandson of the S550 sharing as it does almost all of the instrument voices and styles. The S670, however, has some lovely extras, especially in the guitar section which, as a one time session guitarist, I enjoy very much. The only complaint I have, but only a small one, is that installing favourite pieces of music in the 'REGISTRATION MEMORY' is not as user friendly as the older S550. On the S550 opening one of the eight registration memory banks is simply a case of pressing the dedicated plus or minus buttons. The S670, however, requires you to access the memory banks via a series of menu stages. But, I'm 78 years old and if I can do it so can everyone else. If you are looking for a keyboard that will satisfy the home based enthusiast or even give a pro entertainer a good 'band in a box' I can thoroughly recommend the Yamaha PSR-S670.
Although I'm still finding my way around the PSR-S670, I think it's an outstanding workstation with lots of features and great sounding voices. My only criticisms are:
On my previous keyboard, a PSR-S550, voices were numbered, which made it easier to speedily get to a voice having made a note of the number. On the PSR-S670, there are no numbers, the4 voices are just named, so much slower in finding the voice you want.
Also, on my old PSR-S550, if the lead instrument (right hand) was a bit soft, having preset the master volume before starting to play, it was easy to hit Function, and spin the wheel to the desired volume. Not so easy on the PSR-S670, while playing.
I’m still working this keyboard out, but WOW it sounds fantastic, and from what I have seen so far it has enough features to keep me occupied for quite a while. To say I’m pleased with my purchase is an understatement.
