With the API TranZformer LX Bass Pedal, the Maryland-based company specialising in top-class studio equipment presents a preamp pedal for electric bass that puts the finishing touches on the sound with a 3-band EQ and compressor. The fully analogue and discrete circuitry of the TranZformer promises an unprecedented sound quality. While the finely tuned gain control allows for precise adjustment of the input level, the induction coil-based equaliser with 16 dB of boost or cut each and the even behaviour over the control path allows for precise adjustment of the sound colour. In addition, the feedback-based compressor offers six settings, ranging from subtle under-feeding of the sound to a clear one, and thus contributes significantly to the sound shaping. In addition to the unbalanced jack output for connection to bass amplifiers, the API TranZformer LX bass pedal offers a balanced XLR output that can be used to send the signal directly to mixing consoles or recording equipment.
