The BOSS BR-800 allows anyone with even the smallest amount of work space to create and edit complex multi-track recording, thanks to a comprehensive number of inputs and outputs, faders and knobs and easily-accessed features all housed within an oh-so-slim chassis.
You’re able to record four tracks at once onto the eight-track rig, with an extra stereo track dedicated to the rhythm generator, which means that you’re not wasting any recording room on the onboard grooves and beats that you can choose to have backing your compositions.
The BR800’s 48v phantom power is live across the four microphone inputs, and there are guitar/instrument DI’s too – whatever you want to get down onto your track, you can. A built-in stereo condenser mic adds to your arsenal of options for true recording freedom.
The recording process itself is made even easier by the inclusion of an EZ Recording feature – the bright and clear screen helping you to select and level your inputs, ready to get everything down. Handy features like RETRY allow you to automatically head back to cues and try again if you’d rather get a better take, and the touch-sensor switches and professional faders allow you to keep true control.
There are of course a wealth of guitar and vocal effects – this is BOSS, after all – and even when you’ve mastered and exported your track to the DAW of choice, you can still use the BOSS BR800, the USB connection allowing it to become a comprehensive control surface.
BOSS BR-800 main features include:
Good portastudio for good value for home use
and rehearsal.
Good sounding with great features and Boss effects ( COSM modelling for guitar, Rhythm / drum programming, Vocal effects, EZ recording ) on board. Good built stereo microphones. Very easy in use recording and mixing machine.
I own a complete home studio, with state of the art external rack-units as well as professional plug-ins all connected to a monster Computer. The sound quality I get out of my system excellent, however there's a problem.
All this machinery takes way too long to turn on, by the time you're ready to record, you've forgotten the song you had in mind.
This is where the Boss BR-800 jumps in, sure it's only a gadget, but what a fun gadget. If you have a guitar and headphones, you're set to record in a few seconds.
Excellent drum loops, even though they sound like a machine but that's not the point, excellent guitar and bass effects and simulations (the guitar to bass is simply amazing), and more than enough tracks to push your idea to a higher limit.
It's light and it's compact.
I record all my ideas with this machine, and later re-record the whole thing on my pro system.
I know that this thing can do a whole lot more, but as an author composer I bought this fun little machine for a specific purpose, and this purpose is more than fulfilled, and it will definitely follow anywhere my guitar goes.
excellent in semi professional use or for professionals as an instant, no setup delays, use workstation to rapidly produce a working demo. The onboard effects and sounds are remarkable for such a compact and relatively low cost product.
you hardly need the manual to get familiar with the device. Sound quality is very good (including effects and and amp simulations). Works also as DAW controller and USB Audio Interface. Personally I find buttons EZ REC and SONG SKETCH quite useless. Instead of them I would prefer some kind of Soft Keys to which I could assign favorite functions as Auto Punch In , Track Edit etc. Otherwise the device totally fulfill my expectations.
