The Pico System III from Erica Synths is a fully modular synthvoice with a unique memory card system. Based on the modules of the Pico series, the manufacturer has created a complete synthesizer that is equivalent to a complete modular system in terms of functionality and versatility. The highlight of this module are the Voice Cards, with which frequently used connections can be made simply by plugging in, without (depending on the patch) having to use more cables than that for the audio output.
Functions - overview:
Mini sequencer with 2, 3 or 4 steps
VCO 1: analog, with triangle and rectangle with PWM
VCO Ctrl: oscillator controller with extra VCA
VCO2: analog, with triangle and variable waveform
Mix1: open mixer with three inputs
Mod: Sine and square wave LFO, sample & hold, random and noise generator
VC-EG 1+2: loopable attack/decay envelopes with CV control for the phases
LPG 1+2: Filter/VCA combination
BBD: Delay with up to 600 ms delay time
Mix2: open mixer with three inputs
Mix3: open mixer with two inputs, adds up Mix2 and is main output.
Memory Card System
Of the 31 inputs and 20 outputs of the patch panel, 44 inputs and outputs are found on the Voice Card. On the back, these connections to the card slot are predefined and cannot be changed; switch and controller positions are not recorded. Even though some functions are available twice, Erica Synths has provided variants for the "storable" connections. Five Voice Cards with factory presets and five additional DIY Voice Cards are included with the Pico System III. Of course, the patch panel can be used in addition to or instead of the cards. The DIY cards come "empty" and require precise soldering knowledge and care from the user. Otherwise, malfunction and/or damage to the instrument or voice card may occur.
