Its solid and the materials appear to be of good quality. the design is smart, offering a wide array of different positions and configurations, and its pretty easy and fast to change anything. The balance is also good. I have another arm attached to this one with a 10" splash on it, and it is still solid. I wouldnt go for cheaper, because you need this to last, as for more expensive I dont know. I got all i was looking for on a stand and I think the price was good for the overall quality.
