The Ibanez Standard RG7421EXL-BKF Black Flat Lefthand is a workhorse for left-handers that is geared towards metal from head to toe and is clearly designed for driving riffs and neat shredding, both visually and sonically. The 7-string electric guitar with its elegant matt black look is based on the RG design, which is extremely popular among fans of the heavier style, and comes with some interesting appointments: two powerful humbuckers for first-class metal sounds and of course a particularly slim neck, which is also available for more technically demanding fretboard action.
RG body made from Meranti & Wizard II-7 neck
Cutaways The RG body of the Ibanez Standard RG7421EXL-BKF Black Flat is made of resonant meranti and, thanks to its generous tummy cut and practical forearm contour, always offers a comfortable playing position, even on longer sessions. For the fretting hand, on the other hand, the Wizard II-7 neck made of three strips of maple offers unhindered playability, which is in no way restricted thanks to the proven Ibanez All-Access Neck Joint, even when playing in the highest fingerboard positions.
Ibanez Quantum Humbucker
The two Ibanez Quantum 7 humbuckers are the versions of the extremely popular Quantum pickups specially made for 7-strings and produce a powerful sound that knows how to play to its strengths, especially in the high-gain range. The fact that the Ibanez Standard RG7421EXL-BKF Black Flat is also capable of covering other sound requirements without any problems is proven by its versatile circuitry, which is equipped with a pickup selector switch with five positions and offers particularly interesting switching options including parallel switching of the neck humbucker.
Ibanez F107 Fixed Bridge & Black Hardware
The Ibanez F107 fixed bridge in seven-string design ensures particularly tight sounds with a firm, attack-rich response by promoting a particularly direct resonance transmission into the body. Furthermore, it offers numerous adjustment options to optimize string height and intonation for different string gauges and tunings. The Ibanez Standard RG7421EXL-BKF Black Flat is completed by seven die-cast tuners and visually appealing dome poti caps in a uniform black finish.
Guitar arrived in a good condition. A quick look inspection revealed a flaw in the neck, there was a scratch mark. The back covers weren't flush with the body. Playing wise, the action was a bit too high so I needed to lower it a bit. The frets are horrible, scratchy & needed polishing and filing. The fingerboard was dry and needed some hydration. Electronics are perfect and did not require any more work, but the pickup needed height adjustment. Tuners are in good condition as well. The guitar was not tuned out of the box but that's fine.
