Steinberg is now entering its tenth round with Nuendo and has more than 40 new features and workflow improvements to make working with audio to images even more intuitive, better, comfortable and professional. Especially this version is an update for Nuendo 8 users who want to use all new features/improvements at a reasonable price. These range from basic features such as field recorder audio import, video rendering and video edit detection to new sound design tools such as VoiceDesigner and Doppler effects. Thanks to the integration of DearVR Spatial Connect, Nuendo 10 also becomes the most comprehensive VR authoring DAW on the market. Add to that a facelift with redesigned windows, panels and dialogs, better performance on systems with more than 14 processor cores, improved resampling quality and more to help you get there faster. Whether music, post-pro, game audio, broadcast, virtual reality or education - with Nuendo 10 you're ready for anything.
Steinberg has integrated the Field Recorder Audio Import feature at the request of many Nuendo users. This effective new feature allows you to search for Field REcorder audio files that match selected events in the project - a process that can take weeks to complete manually. Select from various predefined search criteria and get a list of files with attributes or metadata similar to the selected project events. Of course, the search hits can be checked and previewed, while the selected audio files are inserted into the project after confirmation and edited so that they correspond to the original events.
Nowadays, the demand for mixes in the Dolby -atmos format is increasing more and more, which is why ADM files - e.g. from the RMU or Dolby Atmos Production Suite Rendering - can now be imported directly into a new or existing Nuendo project, while object automation is retained for further mixing or editing.
Nuendo also supports bed and object audio channels, pan automation, programs and content structure. When importing an ADM file, audio data is extracted as split mono files into the Nueno project, while folder tracks are automatically created to represent the ADM program/content structure. The object tracks are assigned to the VST MultiPanner including the existing pan automation.
The new Video Cut Detection allows an analysis of the video files on cuts in order to insert markers per cut. Either the complete video event or only a selected area is analyzed - the sensitivity of the cutter detection can of course be set here. After analysis, the markers can be inserted on the existing active marker track or created on a new marker track. In addition there are further options for the marker settings as well as keyboard commands to open the VCD panel, start the analysis and insert markers.
The Nuendo 10 version also supports dearVR Spatial Connect, an immersive 3D audio production tool developed by Dear Reality. DearVR Spatial Connect enables any sound designer, musician or sound engineer to create and mix 3D audio content directly within the VR environment. Thanks to dearVR's revolutionary gesture-driven workflow, switching between DAW and VR production environments is a thing of the past.
The integrated Doppler plug-in allows you to quickly and easily simulate the movement and distance of a sound, including the pitch changes that occur when passing through a sound source.
The Voicedesigner is a plugin that is ideal for sound designers to change voices. On board are parameters like Detune, Formant, Preserve, Robot, Morph and FX to create unique sounds. In addition, there is an integrated mixer that allows you to adjust different levels and frequency ranges when mixing the dry input signal, side chain signal and effect signal.
The Distroyer, on the other hand, is a versatile distortion effect that adds richness, character and overtones. It doesn't matter whether you are looking for analog warmth for the overall mix or a powerful, present kick drum.
