The Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Octo Core is a Thunderbolt DSP system with 8 SHARC processors for more computing power for the use of UAD plug-ins without affecting the CPU of the hosting computer. The DSP system comes moreover with 2 Thunderbolt ports and an UAD plug-in bundle. It suits ideally in big mixing applications and can be connected to other UAD-2 devices or Thunderbolt-periphery. It is only compatible with Mac.
What is really great with this is all the super plugins you can track in live mode and get close to zero latency even if you don't own the Apollo. Frees your on board DSP/CPU for other things like virtual instruments and tracking. just great ! Thank you UAD!
But is the price justifiable? They couldn’t even put a Thunderbolt cable in the box! Given the constant price drops of electronic components it is strange that this product remains largely unchanged in both price and specs. Otherwise it’s a near perfect product.
