The V-Moda M-100 shadow is an over-ear headphone with high-class features, built quality and sound.
The M-100 shadow has a larger-than-average 50mm driver in each ear cup, so the bass response is full and rich sounding, with great punch and clarity. The headphone also has superior dynamic impact that excels at all volume levels. All V-Moda headphones are exceedingly rugged and overbuilt, and the M-100 is no exception.
The faux-leather-covered, memory foam ear cushions are all user-replaceable and provide a tight, noise-blocking seal. Apart from that, the V-Moda headphone comes with two gray Kevlar-reinforced cables. Both cables terminate with a reinforced 3.5mm plug at each end, and both can connect to either the left or right ear cups. The long cable also has a secondary 3.5mm input that V-Moda calls SharePlay, which lets a friend plug their own headphone to the V-Moda cable and listen at the same time.
Its CliqFold metal hinges allows the M-100s to fold into a small bundle, and that adds value for traveling audiophiles. The M-100's ear cups' metal shields are user-replaceable and can be customized with a laser engraving of your own logo or artwork by V-Moda. Accessories include a 6.3mm, gold-plated adapter jack and a sturdy exoskeleton clamshell carry case.
I had been using Sennheiser HD-II 25s for a long time...about 6 years before they finally died (and I believe it was my fault for not quite understanding how loud my bass drum was going...)
I loved them, because they were clear and precise, but they didn't feel particularly "Full". I tried Grados and Bose and things, but again, there wasn't a compelling reason for me to change...
I went to a music shop and ended up spending 6 hours on a TR-8 using these headphones. I fell in love with both, and once my HD-2s died, I just kept thinking about these.
Don't be put off by the lame marketing and all this rubbish about changing plates. These are the most fun headphones I've used. I also have big ears and I haven't bothered getting the XL cups and they're still great. But I probably will...
I wanted the best of both worlds - precision and accuracy, but with Engagement and FUN and excitement and these really really do it for me.
Firmly recommend!!!
If you want headphones what are stylish and built to last then these are for you. Bass is loud, punchy and deep, but pleasurable. Comfortable to wear, tho pad area is small.
Great sound better design. You wont be disappointed.
V-Moda crossfade M-100 headphones have a great frequency range. They do not seem to add any extra Bass like allot of headphones. I think that they are suitable for reference headphones also there is no need for an amp, these bad boys are loud. They look really stylish too, the coolest looking headphones I have had.
They are extremely well built and this was the main reason I bought them. I have broken most of the high end headphones I have owned in the past and this becomes costly. There is even a lifetime 50% percent off cupon offered for your next purchase if you do manage to drop a house on them after the warrenty is up. You just send in the pieces that are left as long as you remembered registering your product. The cables are replaceable as well adding further life expectancy.
The only thing I can say as far as cons is that they are not like wearing big lush pillows on your ears. So I went ahead and ordered the XL memory cushions, they make a big difference, so wearing for longer sessions is not uncomfortable.
Over all these Cans sound transparent enough for studio work, (just mind the volume) and will take a beating for the long haul. The supplied case is tough and a well thought out design, with elastic strapping to snug up the supplied extra buddy cable. The packaging was an experience in it's own right beautiful and telling of the high end product inside.
for sure one great headphones for professional djs...
