Similar to the MPK Mini, a flood of control options and possibilities is packed into this compact housing. The only other similar device is the Launchkey Mini from Novation.
As the name suggests, this controller features a 25 key Synth-Action keyboard. To control the clips there is a 5x8 Clip Launch Matrix, which displays the current Clip-Status with RGB lighting. Included are buttons for up/down and right/left control so that even more tracks and clips can be controlled. 8 encoders provide extra control of parameters such as volume, pan, send and device which can be programmed via the knob control buttons.
In addition, it is possible, via the Scene Launch Buttons including Clip Stop, Solo, Rec/Arm, Mute and Select, to control the Clip Launch Matrix. A button to stop all clips is also made available.
Buttons for Sustain, Octave Up/Down and a Transport control are equipped on the APC Key25 and make it a reliable partner for next Ableton Live session. Naturally any other DAW can also be controlled with the APC Key 25.
MIDI and power supply is provided via USB.
A brilliant intro into triggering clips in ableton live. The keys are sensitive for playing accents / response and the trigger buttons are durable. I recommend for a beginner setup / those looking for an inexpensive Ableton setup.
This MIDI controller works so well in Ableton that users can manage digital controls without having to rely too much on a computer keyboard or mouse. The construction of this controller is very durable and compact. For many controls and functions, it is relatively affordable and simple to set up.
