Compact, easily transportable drum sets are becoming more and more popular. Most of these so-called street or jam kits are equipped with a 16" bass drum and that's exactly where the problem lies: bass drum heads were usually only available in sizes of 18" and up, and in addition, many of the 16" bass drums are actually converted floor toms on which a head made for bass drums does not fit without further ado. The solution to this problem is presented by the American manufacturer Evans with the new 16" bass drum heads from the most popular series of its range.
However, the 16" size is not the only special feature of the new heads. Indeed, the heads from the EMAD, EQ4, GENERA and EQ3 series are each available in two different versions. The "Bass Hoop" heads fit regular bass drums with a 16" diameter, while the "Tom Hoop" heads are suitable for converted floor toms.
With their texture the single-ply heads of the EQ4 series are suitable especially for rich rock sounds, a damping ring is already integrated in the head.
