With the Gibson SG 12-String Neck-Through Limited Heritage Cherry, Gibson USA presents a unique interpretation of the legendary"Solid Guitar" with twelve strings and the Gibson Firebird-inspired, continuous neck with an inspiring, independent sound. This 12-string electric guitar, of which only 75 are made, is equipped with Gibson Burstbucker humbuckers, whose authentic vintage sound captures the brilliant overtones of the string choirs perfectly.
The heart of the Gibson SG 12-String is the continuous neck, whose construction was borrowed from the Gibson Firebird. Accordingly, it is made of nine stripes of maple and walnut separation veneers, while its fretboard is made of rosewood. Together with the mahogany body grand pianos, which are set off from the neck via the typical step, the 12-string electric guitar thus delivers a harmonious primary tone with even resonance development and a multifaceted overtone spectrum. The neck has the particularly thin "Firebird" profile so that even complex chords can be grasped without effort on the wider fretboard.
A Gibson Burstbucker 1 on the neck and a Gibson Burstbucker 2 on the bridge are used as pickups on the Gibson SG 12-String Neck-Through. These classic humbuckers have an authentic vintage sound that does not deny its origins from the legendary PAFs of the golden era of guitar making. Both pickups deliver a particularly airy sound image with transparent warmth and organic dynamics, which transmits the silvery overtone spectrum of the six pairs of strings in all its details and facets to the amplifier. The familiar circuit with a 3-way toggle switch as well as individual volume and tone controls for each pickup can also be used to precisely adjust the sound character.
High-quality hardware, specially designed to meet the requirements of a 12-string guitar, completes the equipment of the Gibson SG 12-String Neck-Through Limited. The strings are guided from the classic Stopbar tailpiece over a Tune-O-Matic bridge, which guarantees perfect intonation and string position for each pair of strings with its own tailpiece. At the headstock, the strings first run over a tektoid saddle, whose dense, self-lubricating material significantly increases sound development and tuning stability before they find a hold on the twelve precise Grover Mini Rotomatics.
