The Gretsch Electromatic John Gourley Broadkaster Center Block Iridescent Black is the instrument of choice of John Gourley, whose rhythm work as frontman of "Portugal. The Man" contributes significantly to the band's unique sound. His Semi-Hollow electric guitar from the Electromatic Collection features classic Broadkaster elements in the form of a maple laminate body with a solid Center block for feedback reduction and a traditional maple neck. Thanks to its balanced thin 'U' profile, it not only evokes the classic Gretsch feel, but also offers the ideal balance between secure chord fingering and precise layering. The USA Full'Tron pickups on the amplifier, on the other hand, know how to play to their tonal strengths between Vintage and modernity. The tried and tested Gretsch wiring with separate volume controls for both pickups as well as a shared master volume and a treble control are used here. As a signature instrument, the Electromatic John Gourley Broadkaster naturally offers some interesting appointments such as the exciting Iridescent Black finish and pickguard artwork designed by Cleon Peterson.
The Gretsch Electromatic John Gourley Broadkaster Center Block Iridescent Black is the first signature guitar for 'Portugal. The Band' frontman John Gourley.
