Kali-Audio presents with the IN-8 a 3-way, 8" nearfield monitor including coaxial midrange & tweeter, as well as a sophisticated bass reflex system. Based on the successful LP-8, the speaker features the same level-proof woofer for powerful bass. But instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, there is a coaxial 4" midrange-tweeter combination. The profile-optimized midrange driver also serves as a waveguide, which helps to avoid intermodulation distortion by limiting the peak excursion to 1mm. This common problem with coaxial systems is thus circumvented, resulting in a more harmonious and distortion-free overall image.
The crossover frequency is also 330 Hz, making the IN-8 an acoustic point source with no phase cancellations on the vertical axis. Instead, a uniform dispersion pattern is produced over the complete frequency response with excellent depth staging and localization. The stereo image also benefits from the coaxial arrangement, allowing for a mix that is rich in detail. Furthermore, a familiar boundary EQ from the LP series is on board, which means that the nearfield monitor can be adapted to different studio environments just as easily as its sister models.
