For the Keeley Fuzz Bender Robert Keeley relies on a modern analog circuit that combines the best of both sound worlds with a mixture of germanium and silicon transistors. Accordingly, the pedal delivers extremely versatile soundscapes that range from velvety solo sound to maximum high-gain fuzz orgy. The BIAS control can be used to manipulate the power supply of the circuit and thus the basic sound, so that every wish is fulfilled from fat square wave distortion to the dying sound with uncontrolled dropouts. A special feature of the Keeley Fuzz Bender is furthermore the active 2-band tone control for particularly precise adjustments of the bass and treble content.
The Keeley Fuzz Bender at a glance:
Fuzz effect pedal for electric guitar, made in the USA.
Analog circuit with three silicon and germanium transistors
Active 2-band EQ for treble and bass with +/- 20 dB each Boost or cut
BIAS control determines voltage supply to the transistors and basic tone character
Sound range is enormous! Can tear the reality apart with glitchy-edgy teeth, or can melt your face with a wall of sound. Reacts on volume knob very well, both on single coils and humbuckers. Fun fact - i was thinking that because it's loosely based on tonebender schematics it will only work in the beginning of the chain. I was surprised to find that it fells perfectly fine in send-return loop of my BOSS GX-100. Volume must be attenuated a bit (in "send" param), but aside from that it blends with everything without any issues!
