The PRS McCarty 10-Top Tobacco Wrap Burst, named after Ted McCarty, who was instrumental in the success of the electric guitar in the Fifties and later mentored Paul Reed Smith in the design of his electric guitars, impresses with its skilful combination of modern guitar construction and traditional vintage details. Here, PRS relies on a mahogany body with flamed maple top in intensely flamed 10-top quality and on a strong Pattern neck made of mahogany carrying a rosewood fingerboard with the coveted Birds inlays marking the frets. Two PRS 58/15 LT humbuckers conjure up the authentic clean and overdrive sounds of the Fifties, their vocal midrange bringing every lick or riff to life. A high-quality hardware setup with PRS Adjustable Wraparound Bridge and PRS Vintage Style tuners completes the PRS McCarty 10-Top Tobacco Wrap Burst.
In building the McCarty 10-Top Tobacco Wrap Burst, Paul Reed Smith relies on a traditional wood selection of the highest quality, so that the electric guitar not only boasts a sublime look, but also produces a warm sound and long sustain. In addition to the mahogany body, which is thicker than on the PRS Custom models, this electric guitar features an evenly flamed maple top in 10-top quality. Furthermore, the set mahogany neck in the strong "Pattern" profile offers excellent playability over all 22 frets of the rosewood fingerboard, between which the coveted PRS Birds mark the positions.
Based on the traditional pickups of the Fifties, the two PRS 58/15 LT Low Turns humbuckers of the PRS McCarty 10-Top Tobacco Wrap Burst have a moderate output and deliver first-class vintage sounds with a vocal midrange spectrum and lively dynamics, which implement every playful nuance in detail in both the clean and overdrive channels. The humbuckers can also be split via the push/pull switch in the tone control, so that extremely transparent single-coil sounds expand the sound repertoire of the PRS McCarty 10-Top.
Last but not least, the PRS McCarty 10-Top Tobacco Wrap Burst is rounded off by high-quality hardware that is perfectly matched to the electric guitar. The PRS Adjustable Wraparound Stoptail bridge mounted on two brass bolts guarantees optimal adjustment of intonation and string action. The headstock also features PRS vintage-style tuners with traditional keystone wings for precise and stable tuning.
