The SP-404 MKII Stones Throw Edition is a strictly limited special edition resulting from a collaboration with Roland and the Stones Throw label. Stones Throw was founded in 1996 and has always seen itself as an indie label. The label's founder, DJ Peanut Butter Wolf, has always been interested in promoting young talent. The samplers of the Roland SP series had a significant influence on the artists of the label and their musical work. The Stones Throw edition contains ten banks of brand new music from Kiefer, Sudan Archives, Mndsgn, J.Rocc and DJ Harrison. With 16 patterns and 16 samples in each bank, you get exciting material straight from the artists and can jam and create new music in their spirit. Jeff Jank, the art director and illustrator behind the label's major releases, is responsible for the front panel. The Stones Throw Edition of the SP-404 MkII includes additional content not available anywhere else. In addition, there is a 7" record with two "official" recordings by Kiefer and Mndsgn, created with their own SP soundbanks. A real mixtape on cassette by DJ icon J.Rocc with an exclusive 30-minute mix of the SP-404MKII x Stones Throw artists is also included in the package.

Cult sampler with 17 velocity-sensitive pads.

The Stones Throw Edition is technically identical to the already available standard version of the Roland SP-404 MK II. With 17 velocity-sensitive pads, you have access to even more samples than with all predecessors. The internal memory holds an impressive 16 GB and gives access to 2560 samples and 2560 patterns, distributed over 16 samples/patterns x 10 banks and 16 projects.

The graphical display allows, among other things, cutting and post-processing of sounds and Loops directly on the device. Inputs for microphone/guitar and line signals allow the recording of audio material in the device, resampling is also integrated and finished sounds and Loops with the desired settings can be created as a new sample. In chromatic mode samples can be played with a fixed pitch, this is especially suitable for synth sounds.

With the sequencer, beats and Loops with a length of up to 64 bars can be recorded. Live functions such as Reverse and Roll provide the necessary variation when recording and jamming. The tempo of Loops is automatically detected.
