For some, the ARP 2500 is probably the holy grail of synthesizer history. Definitely rare, extremely impressive in terms of its dimensions, overwhelming in terms of sound and, then as now, a one-off. The dinosaur of analog synthesizers, built from 1970 to 1981, looks very tidy despite its modularity, which is thanks to the crossbar system used. Behringer has reduced the modules to the compact Eurorack format and meticulously adhered to the historical originals in terms of both function and sound.
TheBehringer Filtamp 1006 is a module combination of a 24dB Lowpass filter and VCA. The filter, which has a good attack and round sound, can be driven into self-oscillation and then achieves the grainy resonance typical of ARP. The filter is followed by a VCA whose characteristic curve can be switched between linear and exponential. The 1006 is therefore suitable as a backend module for clear patches. The adjustable CV input Keytracking is assigned to the filter alone, the CV inputs CV1 and CV2 are assigned to the filter and VCA in parallel. The modulation intensities are set using attenuators.
