Flexible Made in Japan RG with reversed headstock
With the Ibanez Genesis RG565R-EB Electric Blue, Ibanez expands the Japanese-built Genesis Collection with an eye-catching shredder guitar with reversed headstock and flexible pickup setup. In addition to the basswood body in the familiar and agile RG design, the electric guitar has a bolt-on maple-walnut neck whose "Super Wizard" profile promises extremely agile playing characteristics. With an Ibanez Infinity R humbucker in a narrow single-coil format and a full-sized Ibanez V8 humbucker on the bridge, the Genesis RG565 delivers powerful clean and distortion sounds that precisely reproduce every note played. The Genesis RG565R-EB ElectricBlue guitar is completed by a tuning-stable Ibanez Edge tremolo, which takes even the heaviest whammy bar action with stoic composure.
As a first-class shredding guitar, the Ibanez Genesis RG565R-EB Electric Blue, built in Japan, impresses with its agile playing characteristics and hot sounds.
Agile RG design
When designing the Japanese-built Genesis RG565R, Ibanez paid particular attention to ideal handling and a powerful sound. While the sleek basswood body sits comfortably on the body thanks to the large belly cut, the wide cutaways allow unhindered access to the high positions of the bolt-on, five-piece neck made of maple and walnut. The extremely slim "Super Wizard" profile with just 17 mm of wood under the first fret, together with the flat 17" fingerboard radius (430 mm), promises excellent playing characteristics for virtuoso soloing and tight riffing on the 24-fret rosewood fingerboard.
Flexible pickup configuration
For the electric sound conversion, the Genesis RG565R relies on a narrow Ibanez Infinity R humbucker in the neck position and a full-size V8 humbucker on the bridge. Equipped with powerful ceramic magnets, the pickups elicit full-bodied clean sounds as well as powerful overdrive and distortion tones from the guitar amplifier, which reproduce every note with razor-sharp articulation even in drop tunings. In addition to the 5-way pickup switch, which can be used to call up a wide range of sound nuances, the volume and tone controls provide full control over the sound of the electric guitar.
Edge Tremolo and Gotoh tuner
Last but not least, Ibanez completes the Genesis RG565R-EB Electric Blue electric guitar with high-quality hardware equipment. With its buttery smooth handling and unshakeable tuning stability, the proven Ibanez Edge double-locking tremolo invites uninhibited shredding techniques such as dive bombs and squeals. Gotoh tuners on the distinctive "reversed" headstock bring the electric guitar quickly and precisely into the correct tuning.
This guitar feels and sounds great for such a low-priced instrument. What you'd expect from Japanese craftsmanship. Out of the box, I had to adjust the neck and bridge slightly due to some fret buzz but other than that, it was good to go. I think they could've went with less 'loud' colours but, I get that they were capturing a moment in time and tastes then. Other than this, the instrument is spot on.
