The Lewitt DTP 340 TT is a Dynamic High Performance Microphone specially designed for accurate Drum and Percussion Recording with a very present and clear sound that is guaranteed even at very high sound levels while reproducing maximum acoustic detail. The Super-Cardioid characteristic always prevents sound from reaching the Side and the Back, so that no unwanted noises reach the Recording, and the overall picture is completed by a very robust Housing and Accessories (2x different Terminals and a Bag).
Got three of these to mic up and record my Yamaha Absolute Maple rack toms. I'm very pleased with them. Capture the attack and body of the three toms very nicely. Reject other drums and cymbals much better than the AKG condensers I was using. personally prefer the "close mic" sound of the dynamic Lewitts to the AKG. Just my preference and the recording room I am in. Ordered in the afternoon one week day, they arrive less than 24 hours later - excellent service!
The microphone is very well built, it will survive many drummer strikes as for the sound, it is a mid scooped sound when you have your EQ flat there is a lot of bass being picked up acts almost like a ribbon mic. I do love the sound and with a little tweaking you get great results.
