The fully analog circuit with threshold and decay offers two controls for adjusting the threshold and the operating time of the noise gate. I'm comfortable with compressors so pretty straightforward, but if you're less comfortable with all the tweaks you can do, it may be complex, but due to no frills features it won't take long to get to grips with it.

A very simple, straightforward, and cost effective noise gate, I bought this to dampen the background hiss when stacking gain pedals in a chain (I like a bit of hiss, but my chain was way too loud as it was) and it does the task well. If you need to really get specific with your noise gating, I am not sure this will offer enough features to dial in that perfect silence on a busy board, used subtly the pedal is great, with no noticeable tone change - the more aggressive you are in noise reduction may cause some tone change to modulation effects, or cut your sustain slightly (TC electronic also do a very well reviewed, more expensive, product that seems to have enough customisation to do that for you). If you just want to drop out some hiss from your pedal board then this will do the job - especially for the price paid (£29). It is a pro bit of kit that is well engineered, solidly built and well thought through for its simple application, it isn't fancy at all, but it does exactly what it says it does.
