The Universal Audio Apollo 8 is the logical further development of one of the world's most popular professional audio interfaces. A huge effort was made to improve its performance to match analogue recording quality. The 18 x 24 Thunderbolt interface combines the new UAD-2 DUO processing, original analogue UA circuit design as the next generation of A/D and D/A conversion in one stylish new unit.
The Apollo 8 Duo also integrates real-time UAD-2 processing and Unison technology with all UAD plug-ins from Neve, Studer, Manley, Lexicon and many others - including the new Mic Preamp emulations of Neve, API and Universal Audio - can be used almost latency-free during recording.* The Apollo Expanded software now allow to daisy chain up to four Apollos in a system via Thunderbolt (Mac), making it easy to expand.
Apollo A/D & D/A Conversion the Next Generation
The audio quality of the Apollo 8 has been further improved compared to the original Apollo. The completely revised A/D and D/A conversion process provide an increased dynamic range and a lower distortion. The result is a brilliant sound throughout the recording process, overdubs, mixdown and mastering.
Real-Time UAD Plug-In Processing for Recording, Mixing & Mastering
The "natural" basic sound of the Apollo 8, which is very open and transparent, can easily deliver a wide range of classic analogue sounds and colours using its real-time UAD processing. The UAD-2 DUO Processing, the DSP acceleration of the Apollo, allows recording through UAD Powered Plug-Ins - with a latency of less than 2ms - which allows listening to and recording the sound of classic analogue emulations of Ampex, Lexicon, Manley, Neve, Roland, SSL, Studer and more.
4x Microphone Preamps with Unison Technology
Universal Audio's ground-breaking Unison technology used in the Apollo 8 reproduces the sound and behaviour of the world's most sought-after tube and FET preamps - with all their characteristic features such as impedance, amplifier "sweet spots" and component level switching behaviour.
Monitoring & Workflow Improved
Apollo 8 offers a number of improvements compared to the original Apollo. These include alt. speakers, dim and mono functions as well as input and output metering via the new meter switch. These features in combination with the daisy chain capability of the Apollo define the new standard in professional multi-channel audio recording.
