The Student 403 owes its acoustic sound to an evenly grained red cedar top, which in combination with a laminated mahogany body produces a very warm and powerful tone. The easy-grip mahogany neck with a fine rosewood fingerboard is given additional accessibility by a cutaway that allows the player to easily grasp even the highest of the 18 frets. A finely notched saddle with a width of 52 mm and a saddle that is adjusted to the millimetre also ensure clean intonation over the entire scale length of 650 mm.
