I've played Gretsches at all price points, and have enjoyed them all. This is actually the cheapest Gretsch I've played, and it's astonishingly good - easily up to gigging/recording standards. You won't get the full-on twang of the classic Gretsches, but that's because the pickups here are aimed at different playes. This has a modern-sounding, focused sound - think SG or Les Paul but with more clarity - perfect with a bit of dirt. The guitar arrived perfectly set up - really low action - no string buzzes. The only issue was the G string sticking at the nut (common issue with this style of guitar, even worse with Gibsons) but a bit of graphite in the nut slot sorted it. Thoroughly recommended.

The guitar finish is faultless. It plays very nicely and sounds wonderful. The only problem I had was the Jack port didn't grip the Jack properly and the clip needed adjusting.
