The djembes of the LP FX series are feather-light instruments with a plastic body and head. FX djembes offer a very lively sound character and, unlike djembes with wooden shells, are absolutely insensitive to humidity and temperature fluctuations. They are available either with traditional string tension or with a mechanical tuning system.
The shell is made of extremely light plastic, which makes it not only easier to care for than comparable shells made of wood, but also offers sound advantages. Due to the low material thickness, the striking of the head is transferred significantly better and more directly to the body and arrive at the body virtually loss-free. In addition, the plastic body has a very good resonance, which is reflected in an incredibly deep bass and sharp, loud slaps. Synthetic heads also offer advantages over traditional goat skins, as they cannot dry out, do not wear out and therefore keep their tuning.
This djembe from the Latin Percussion FX series has a traditional string tensioning system and is therefore aimed at experienced players who are familiar with this system. For all others the FX djembes are also available with a modern mechanical tuning system.
