Perfect symbiosis of traditional and modern guitar craftsmanship
The Martin 012-28 Modern Deluxe is a perfect symbiosis of traditional and modern guitar craftsmanship. The time-honored features, in addition to the classic appearance, include the Dovetail neck joint and the protein glue used to bring the construction together. The modern components, on the other hand, are the liquid metal bridge pins, a carbon fiber bridgeplate and, last but not least, the innovative Vintage Deluxe neck profile that offers the player an extremely high playability. The fully solid guitar also produces a mid-range rich sound with decent bass and assertive treble frequencies thanks to its compact 0-12 Fret design. In addition, the wide fretboard has plenty of room so that even complex fingering patterns can be easily mastered. The openwork headstock features smooth tuners for easy tuning of the 6 steel strings. Another highlight are the gold-plated frets, which give the overall appearance of the Martin 012-28 Modern Deluxe a particularly high-quality touch. The guitar comes including case.
In the Modern Deluxe series from Martin & Co. modern and traditional features are combined
Construction and woods
Since the Sitka spruce top is treated with the special Vintage Tone system, the instrument gives the impression of having been played for years. Especially the middle frequency ranges stand out clearly and distinctly, so that the instrument can be used extremely well for expressive Pickings. Rosewood back and sides additionally enrich the tone with warm bass frequencies, thus providing a very balanced sound overall. The flat scalloped X-bracing, in combination with the ultra-thin high-gloss finish, also allows for a very nearly attack and a long decay of the individual notes. The mahogany neck is equipped with an ebony fingerboard, which can be easily operated in all positions thanks to the neck / body transition at the 12th fret.
Hardware and design
Since the compensated bridge inlay and the 46 mm wide nut are made of bone, the strings intonate perfectly on the shortened 632 mm scale length. At the same time, the side-positioned gold-plated tuners ensure very precise tuning of the instrument. Matching the tuners, the frets are also gold-plated. The top is surrounded by a fine maple binding with herringbone inlay, which is visually very tastefully matched to the multi-stripe soundhole rosette. The stylized company logo and the filigree "Diamonds and Squares" fingerboard inlays made of mother-of-pearl complete the exterior in a very aesthetic way.
