The Oktava MK-012 is a high-quality small-diaphragm condenser microphone whose wide, flat response ensures that all sounds are captured with high accuracy. The capsule, which can be interchanged with other directional capsules (hypercardioid, omnidirectional, not included), has a precise, integrated connection system to ensure reliable electrical contact. The MK-012 is generally suitable for use in all situations where precise sound is required. The small size of the system makes it ideal for use in broadcast, video sound, installation, sound reinforcement and theater, as well as in the recording studio.
As a stereo pair, the Oktava MK-012 microphones are perfect for all standard stereo miking techniques as well as overhead use in live and studio situations.
Included is a -10 dB pad for use in high SPL environments, a microphone mount, and a beautiful wooden box.
Anyone Who has researched the Oktava for dialogue recording will already know that it suffers from some pretty extreme handling noise.
However pair it up with a decent shock mount and a rycote BBG (even inside) and you will get a very good vocal tone for the price.
In short paired with the right kit this microphone is great for sit down interviews and with a light touch works fine on a boom and out performers other mics in this price band (I would recommend over rodes NT5/55) . I personally would not use for Run nd gun or ENG applications though.
